Another Bus Story

My boyfriend dropped me off at Ayala, so from there I rode a bus to work, the Violet bus. Well, It’s my favorite bus because they are not like the old smelly ones. Anyway, it’s just a short trip so not much action happens inside the bus.. it’s just the usual thing. Until I overheard the inspector asking the conductor.. “wala pang tiket to! (this guy has no ticket yet)”..the conductor replied, “dahil hindi sya nagbayad.. pulis daw sya eh! (because he didn’t pay.. he said he’s a policeman)”.. the inspector gawked in dismayed manner and simply whispered..”tsk!tsk!.. ayaw lang magbayad ng pamasahe (he just don’t wanna pay)”.

Obviously the guy knows that the people who heard that remark are staring at him.. but he just acted as if he heard nothing.. The guy is wearing a khaki short, black shirt, sunglasses and a rubber shoes. He doesn’t look like a police to me.. but who am I to question him. I’m just another commuter who encounters these kind of people..

When I get off the bus I tried to glance at the man again, he still sits comfortably and steady on the bus watching the movie played on the TV. Well, there are just some people who don’t have the decency to respect those who are working very hard for every penny instead they think of malevolent ways to get away with their wicked ways.

That husband, Jeff, compared his life with Heidi to the lives of the people in O. Henry’s short story “Gift of the Magi.” It tells of a man who sold his lone possession of value—a pocket watch—to buy hair combs for his wife, who had sold her long, beautiful hair to buy a gold chain for his watch.

Having no money concerns would be great—but realizing the immeasurable value of the people we care about is more important. We sometimes need a reminder that acquiring “things” is not nearly as important as appreciating the people God has placed in our lives. When we practice putting others’ interests before our own (Phil. 2:3-4), we learn what it means to love, serve, and sacrifice. In fact, that’s how we pattern Christ in our relationships (Eph. 5:1-2).

One Friday night at Tiendesitas

We were suppose to have a despedida for our contractual employee, unfortunately, she wasn’t able to join us. (How ironic!)..

Too bad it was also the Game 2 of Ginebra and San Miguel in the PBA.. (maybe Gin Kings didn’t won because I wasn’t able to watch.. LOL) Anyways, I just want to share some amusing observations I have whenever I go out on places like this..

• The band asks the audience who the birthday celebrants are and it never fails that at least half of the crowd has somebody who volunteers one from their group …even if it’s not their birthday
• When the band asks for a jammer, there is always that guy/girl who pretends to be very shy and often needs to be persuaded before they go up on the stage.. but once they are up there.. whoa! .. need I say more?
• At the girl’s wash room, you’ll often hear a girl telling her girlfriends “No, I’m not drunk.. I’m just a little tipsy” afterwards yuou’ll hear her vomit to death or sometimes cry so loud because of some love problem
• There’s also this group of people who loves to dance as if they own the dance floor, sometimes they have a choreography or they mimic the traditional ethnic dance of some tribes.
• There’s a group of budding young band who goes to the stage and borrows the musical instruments to the band playing so they can showcase their hidden talent even if the listeners are super bored already and displaying their dismay on these party poofers

Anyhow, these things are mere observations of mine. Feel free to comment should you have other things in mind. =)

Below are some of the pics we had while we were there. The bands played good music and the beer and food are very affordable. So it's still a fun-filled night.
